THATCamp Florida, UF folks confirmed for attending

I’ve confirmed with a number of folks from UF that we’ll be attending THATCamp Florida on February 6 (just driving down and back the same day). Many others are still considering and working out schedules. With the event at UCF, this will be a great opportunity to meet with colleagues from around the state and beyond.
In very, very exciting news, THATCamp Florida announced that the incoming President of H-NET,  Melanie R. Shell-Weiss, will be attending. Information on her and her brief bio is on H-Net:

Melanie is an Assistant Professor of Liberal Studies at Grand Valley State University. Her current research focuses on immigrant recruitment, race relations, and transnational ties across the U.S. South, Latin America and the Caribbean over the late 19th and 20th centuries. This will be the focus of a book, _Translators Wanted in Dixie: Immigration and Race Relations in the Twentieth Century South_ (in progress). She is also currently working on an edited collection of essays, _Reconstructing America: Evaluating the Legacy of the Dillingham Commission on Immigration Reform_.
From 2003-2006, Melanie completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Department of History and Institute for Applied Economics and the Study of Business Enterprise at The Johns Hopkins University. She holds a Ph.D. in History (Spring 2002) and an M.A. in American Studies (Spring 1996) from Michigan State University.
Among her recent publications are two books, _Coming to Miami: A Social History_ (Gainesville: University Press of Florida, 2009) and a collection of labor history essays, _Florida’s Working-Class Past: New Perspectives on Labor from Spanish Florida to the New Immigration_, which she co-edited with Robert Cassanello (Gainesville: University Press of Florida, 2009).
