I’ve been so busy the past year (or 14 months to be completely accurate) since joining UF’s Digital Library Center that it’s hard to see what all we’ve accomplished. UF Digital Collections (UFDC) now provides free online access to more than two million pages converted from the Libraries’ paper collections, as well as from UF museums and other UF programs. UFDC hit the 1 million page mark in September 2007 and continues steady growth. It is now the largest university based digital library in the southeast and one of the largest in the country. UFDC (www.uflib.ufl.edu/ufdc) can be text-searched or browsed online. We’re working hard and rapidly approaching our 2 million page mark! Our current statistics show 55,072 titles with 74,341 items and a whopping 1,896,811 pages. From the last time I noted our numbers, on April 20 with 1.718 million pages, we’re set to eclipse our 100,000 pages a month as long as we can make it over 1.918 before June 20, and we should make it, provided the heat of the Gainesville summer, budget year changeover, and summer vacations don’t slow us down too much. The University of Florida Digital Collections are still relatively young, established separately only recently. Since March 23 of this year, we’ve added another 100,000 pages, up from 1.62 million on March 23 and now we’re at 1.718 million (and counting) and it’s only April 20. The full stats–as of today–are: 53,682 titles; 70,323 items; and 1,718,050 pages. Our statistics are dynamically updated, listed online here, and the statistics are broken down by collection.
