Another Productive & Beautiful Day in St. Croix!

Thanks to all who made today another productive day in St. Croix! Tomorrow, I’ll be on St. Thomas, meeting with the Territorial Archives and University of the Virgin Islands, St. Thomas.
Today, I managed a quick excursion (less than 5 minutes from my hotel) to Fort Frederik and to Estate Mount Washington Plantation with its labyrinth (another quick 10 minutes). Getting a chance, even quickly, to see a bit more of a place helps lay context and make connections with physical and digital materials and communities–historical, current, future–that the Digital Library of the Caribbean (dLOC) supports and engages. I’m now reading up on some of the people I’ve learned about for their important work in the US Virgin Islands, including Robert Vaughn, author of many works, librarian, and more, with collections housed at the Virgin Islands Caribbean Cultural Center (VICCC)!
