​CFP: Systm 3rr0r: Ruptures in Digital Media (UF's Digital Assembly, March 14-15, 2014)

The University of Florida’s Digital Assembly will be hosting its biennial symposium on Friday, March 14th followed by a round table discussion starting at 1 pm with our guest speakers on Saturday, March 15th. Systm 3rr0r: Ruptures in Digital Media explores failure, error, and glitch in digital media and environments.
We are currently looking for a few scholars who would like to present creative and/or critical projects related to the following concepts during our round table session. Presentations should be no more than 10 minutes long. Non-traditional and multi-modal presentations are also welcome (Prezi, PechaKucha, film, music, digital and non-digital games, visual art, performance, interpretive dance, etc.)
Possible concepts include but are not limited to:

  • ​usefulness vs uselessness of error
  • glitch and archive
  • visual language and glitch
  • translation error
  • error and teleology
  • glitch aesthetics
  • hacking (code, the body, maker-projects)
  • rubbish and dirt as error

Please submit no more than a 150-word abstract to mbianchi@ufl.edu by March 7, 2014 and include your audio/visual requirements (if any). We welcome multimedia abstracts.
