The Department of Latin American and Iberian Cultures at Columbia University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Latin American and/or Iberian Digital Humanities, to begin July 1, 2017. Ph.D. must be in hand by the appointment start date. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels and to contribute to Columbia College’s Core Curriculum.
Candidates must have an outstanding scholarly and teaching record that reflects a strong commitment to digital humanities and Latin American and/or Iberian cultural studies, showing an ability to cross disciplines, periods, and topics, and an eagerness to work closely with graduate and undergraduate students. We encourage applications from scholars with theoretical interests and/or experience in implementing successful digital projects.
Arts and Sciences
Ph.D. by the time of appointment
Teaching experience in language and culture in graduate school or in current position. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate scholarly promise and achievement, outstanding potential in teaching, a strong commitment to cultural studies, and an eagerness to work closely with graduate and undergraduate students.
Preference given to scholars whose pursuits explore the intersections among literature, history, theory, and film.

All applications must be made through Columbia University’s online Recruitment of Academic Personnel System (RAPS). On the RAPS site, please upload a cover letter of application, current CV, a writing sample or publication, a summary of teaching evaluations, and a list of references. RAPS will accommodate uploads of a maximum of two (2) megabytes in size.
Before uploading documents, applicants first will be asked to input a name and valid email address for each reference provider. The application to this position requires a minimum of three reference letters. The applicant may enable RAPS to generate an automatic email to the reference provider, politely requesting a letter of reference and offering a secure link to the RAPS website where a letter can be uploaded quickly and easily. Wherever possible, letters should be uploaded in the online system. After completing the “Provide References” screens, the applicant will come to the “Attach Documents” screen and will be asked to upload into RAPS the required application materials listed above.
