NFAIS Humanities Roundtable 2015: Digital Humanities and Digital Publishing: Global Opportunities and Challenges

The NFAIS Humanities Roundtable is a dynamic event with participants from many different areas coming together on shared interests and concerns. It’s a great venue for innovative and interesting discussions. I hope folks can make it or attend virtually! The event announcement is below.

Digital Humanities and Digital Publishing: Global Opportunities and Challenges

Registration is now open for the NFAIS Humanities Roundtable 2015, sponsored by the American Theological Library Association (ATLA) and Quarles & Brady LLP, on Thursday-Friday, October 1-2, 2015 in Chicago. Every past annual Roundtable has been a sell-out event, so reserve your seat now!
This year’s event begins Thursday evening (October 1) with a Welcome Reception at the IIT Institute of Design’s Steelcase Innovation Room. Come early and network with colleagues and other professionals working in the collaborative realm of Digital Humanities and advanced information services.
If you’re planning to attend on-site, book your hotel registration at Club Quarters, Wacker at Michigan – Hotel before August 30 to secure preferred room rates. To register your room, call Club Quarters Member Services at 203-905-2100. When booking, identify yourself with ATLA and use group code: ATL93O.
On Friday, October 2, you’ll hear speakers address practical aspects of developing and delivering multicultural, multilingual information services to an increasingly broad and diverse market. Attendees will learn about:

  • Updates on international intellectual property concerns
  • Editorial policies and practices (e.g., authority control and how best to identify and acquire appropriate scholarship from diverse cultural perspectives)
  • Actionable advice for meeting and satisfying user expectations and requirements

In an ever-connected, ever-accelerating global research networks, there are key opportunities for enhancement of and engagement with the broadest possible forms of inter-disciplinary scholarship and education. How we foster access and usability of that scholarship demands new approaches and new avenues of thought. The NFAIS Humanities Roundtable brings together these intersecting elements, giving attendees practical, actionable ideas to thrive in today’s digital environment.
Last year’s Humanities Roundtable in New York was standing room only! Register now for either virtual or on-site participation in the 2015 event.
