Reminder: UF Digital Humanities Day + Interface Faculty Seminar, today, 8am-4:30pm

UF’s 2nd Annual Digital Humanities Day and Interface 2013
Thursday, April 25th, 2013
8:15am to 4:30pm
Smathers Library (East), Room 1A, and online

The Center for the Humanities and the Public Sphere and George A. Smathers Libraries are again partnering with Academic Technology to present the 2nd Annual UF Digital Humanities Day as part of the 2013 Interface Faculty Seminar. Interface is the University of Florida conference providing demonstrations, discussion, and peer networking focused on improving teaching and learning by deploying innovative pedagogy using new and emerging technologies. This year’s theme is “Learning On-and Off-line: “Reading, Reflecting, Displaying, and Doing.” Curtis Bon is the keynote speaker, Professor of Instructional Systems Technology at Indiana University. He has published widely on “blended learning” as a way to combine traditional and digital technologies for conveying disciplinary knowledge and building critical thinking skills in the disciplines.
A stream of Digital Humanities talks throughout the day will link conversations about pedagogy to research in humanities (including visualization, digital curation, and immersive environments). Presentations are “lightning rounds” with sets of short demonstrations followed by thirty-minute ‘break-outs’ for intimate discussion with presenters.

Digital Humanities Day + Interface 2013 is sponsored by the Technology Innovations Advisory Committee, the Office of Academic Technology, The Center for Humanities and the Public Sphere (through the Digital Humanities Working Group), and the George A. Smathers Libraries.
